- Transparent PNG: The Transparent PNG is an image featuring only the product, with the background removed. This allows the customer to composite the product with other products, or place the product into another photo seamlessly, with a different background, to create different ads. This format is best suited for customers either proficient with Adobe Photoshop or image editing software capable of editing PNG files. Due to the extra work involved in removing the background and producing a PNG file, we charge an additional $10 per photo for this file format
Is pricing based per photo or per product?
The price is per photo. Pricing is calculated by the number of total photos being delivered, but discounts are applied based on the number of products being photographed. In other words, the more products you ask us to shoot, the higher the discount per photo.
What about those notorious white and clear products?
Although we make every effort to evenly match and light volume images equally, and they are photographed under the same lighting conditions, varying item sizes can appear lighter or darker when composited with other items later in post.
This is because if two factors: Shading and Item Size. Light is reflected differently by smaller items than by larger ones. Also, different surfaces have different shading, and while one white item may be small and flat, a larger item may have more of a wavy surface with more shade, thus appearing to be darker. Both are white, but shade makes one appear darker.
It is up to the client to lighten or darken the items in post to match other items placed next to them when composited or when displayed on the same page.
Do you shoot with live male and female models?
The simple answer is yes. The more complex answer is that models are paid based on their experience. Please contact us to discuss the use of models and we'll find the right one to fit your vision. We'll contact the model, then send you his or her head shot/body shot photo.
If the model falls within your requirements and you feel the model will represent your vision, we'll handle the model booking, negotiate a model fee, and obtain a signed model release prior to the shoot day.
Because the photos will be used for marketing and sales, we don't work with unpaid or TFP models. All models must be paid prior to the actual day of the shoot.
Do you have props?
We have all the basic props, and full access to anything else we might need to complete the shoot. We can discuss any set construction or required props prior to the shoot, and if necessary, any additional cost of materials required will be itemized and added to the final invoice.
Can I just send you my stuff for you to figure out my quote?
You can if you prefer, but be sure you understand that if we don't come to an agreement on the quoted price, you'll be responsible for the product's return to you at your cost. Any items not picked up of left after 30 days become our property to dispose of at our discretion.
Can you shoot with food?
At this time we don't offer food photography at our location, but would be happy to discuss a photo session at your location of choice with your chef.
What about jewelry photos?
Jewelry photos are handled like everything else, with one exception: When shipping jewelry, please insure the package for the full value. Upon return, we'll also insure the package for the full value and add the cost to the final invoice.
What image file formats do you work with and recommend for our needs?
We recommend three file formats, depending on the intended image use: Jpeg, TIFF and/or Transparent PNG
